Patricia Frye, MD

Dr Patricia Frye is an independent physician consultant who sees the value of cannabis and cannabinoid medication  and the role they play in homeostasis and the management of pain and chronic disease. She is currently evaluating and managing patients who are seeking medicinal cannabis either as a primary or adjunct therapy for illnesses such as chronic pain syndromes, neurodegenerative disorders, gastrointestinal disease, seizures, autoimmune disease, insomnia, cancer, anorexia, and mood disorders. While euphoria can be a respid for patients with high levels of stress or chronic pain, many forms of cannabis are non-impairing and can be beneficial to patients who are looking for symptom relief without the “high”, dizziness, or other side effects associated with Δ9-THC.

In addition, Dr. Frye is trained in obesity medicine and nutrition and offers sound and science-based approaches to attaining a healthy body weight through nutritional guidance, medication recommendations (when indicated), and activity recommendation. She believes that lifestyle adustments are the mainstay of attaining optimal health but the need for medication, or even surgery, may be indicated for some patients.

After graduating from the University of Maryland School of Medicine where she earned her medical degree, Dr Frye remained there and completed her pediatric residency. She then went to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where she continued her studies in the field of anesthesiology. There she gained experience in medical pain management and pain management procedures. Dr Frye has furthered her education, by means of extensive independent study, and is knowledgeable in the areas of endogenous and exogenous cannabinoid physiology, the entourage effects of phytocannabinoids and terpenoids and their role in treating chronic and debilitating conditions.

Dr. Frye is licensed to practice in Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, Nevada, and California and is exceptionally experienced in guiding pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients through the process of adding medicinal cannabis and other evidence-based methods to their therapeutic regimen.

Physician and therapist referrals are welcomed and she is committed to working alongside medical providers who have patients they feel might benefit from cannabis therapy.
